She stood on the
balcony staring at the starry sky. In her hand she held a flower that BVR Otis,
her boyfriend, had given her… her heart raced violently in her chest… for she
longed for the time she would see him again and just be in his arms. In her
mind, there was replaying the moment when she met BVR, at the polling station…and
what happened afterwards, how he accepted her despite her being an amputee(she
had to use a prosthetic left arm ), and having a badly scared face from an
accident she had when she was a child. A tear dropped from her eye as she
recalled the moment BVR told her he loved her, despite her being physically challenged…
and the rest is history. They lived happily ever after in a land far far away.
I’m sure we can all relate to such stories. We all
experience love and it warms our hearts inside. From the watchman that lifts
the helpless child into the school bus, to the mother that treats a child with
a bruise after he burnt himself in a kitchen that he was forbidden entry. We all
have these experiences… and how great it is when you give love and you receive love
back… when you tell that special girl… “I like you” and she responds “I like
you too”. And know that when such words
are uttered by genuine lips, immense joy sleepless nights follow. It’s a beautiful
experience.
If you come to critically think about it, genuine love is
hard to come by these days. I’m sure most of you dismissed my opening story as
a fairy tale...Well it is, but I’m getting to a point here. Love exists. And before
you find the love in someone else you first have to experience the love that
comes from the source and originator of Love. There is only one source of
genuine love and my Bible tells me its 1st John 4:8… God is LOVE. He
is the source of all love. 1st John 3:16 “Hereby we perceive the
love of God, because He laid down his life for us…John 3:16-you can quote it
yourself…. And the many other verses that point to God pouring his love to us. This
is God saying I LOVE you… what will you say?
Oh! Lord I am so sinful… you know I sinned and I lost my arm…I
can’t be accepted back to you, I can’t accept your love…” with tears in His
eyes he says… “Come as you are… and I will give you rest. Matt. 11:28”
You say… oh I’m afraid of loving again… He says “There is no
fear in Love…”
You say… my heart is too broken to know love again, he says…”I
am near those who are broken hearted…and will heal their wounds” PSALM 34:18/
PSALM 147:3
So what if God told you today that He loved you, will you
give him the template response? He already has done all that He could to show
His love for you, His child. Will you love Him back? Will you turn away His
offer?
Think of how it must feel when you confess your love for
someone after having done all you can to get their attention, then you get
rejected. It sucks right? God feels the same. So choose today, and respond to
His love, by giving your life to Him as a living sacrifice, obeying and keeping
His commands, for that’s how we know we love Him that created the heavens and
the earth.
With Love, the Debonair.
